Cactus Day Camp FAQs

How old do you have to be to attend Cactus Day Camp?
Campers must be entering kindergarten and no older than 13 or entering 8th grade. We also have a limited number of camper leader opportunities for those entering 9th grade and up. For more information about the program, please go to our “Camper Leadership Application”.  For 3yrs & 4yrs, we have Games Camp.

How many counselors are in a group?
Each group will have at least one counselor college age or above.  All groups younger than middle school will also have one junior counselor and/or counselor-in-training with them at all times.

Where is Cactus Day Camp located?
Cactus Day Camp is located at the Paradise Valley Montessori Academy, just three minutes from the Scottsdale Railroad Park.

Do you provide camp transportation ?
Cactus Day Camp provides transportation to and from camp for an additional fee.  Please call the office to discuss your needs or see http://cactusdaycamp.com/documents/transportation.pdf for more information.

What time can I drop my child off at camp?
Campers may arrive between 8:45am and 9:15am each morning.

What time can I pick up my child from camp?
Campers will be released from the afternoon Pep Rally at 3:15. Parents can pick their child up anytime between 3:15pm and 3:30pm.

Can I sign my child up for one week only?
The minimum number of weeks campers may sign up for is two weeks. We have two, four, six and eight week options.

Is there a daily lunch option?
Campers are required to bring a lunch and drink to camp Monday through Thursday. We collect lunches at the morning Rally and keep them cool until lunch time. On Fridays, Cactus Day Camp will provide lunch.  There is an optional lunch program where parents can order lunch online for their child(ren) to be delivered to camp on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and/or Thursdays.  For more information about this optional lunch program, go to www.cactusdaycamp.com/documents/Lunchinfo.pdf.  Tween Campers receive lunch on Wednesdays during their weekly field trips.

Do you take field trips?
Our Tween Campers take field trips every Wednesday.  All other campers stay on campus at all times.  Cactus Day Camp has two pools, several classrooms, an art studio, a large courtyard and a covered sport court. There are many options at our facility to carry out a full day program on site. When available, we invite special guests/performers or rent equipment to add variety to our already exciting schedule.

Are you a licensed child care facility?
The camp is not licensed by the Arizona Department of Health. We are accredited by the American Camp Association which assures families that camps have made the commitment to a safe nurturing environment for their children.  ACA standards are recognized by the courts of law and government regulators as the standards of the camp community.
