Counselors-In-Training (CITs): Entering 9th, 10th & 11th graders

THE LEADERSHIP PROGRAM IS DESIGNED TO DO THE FOLLOWING:

  • Develop positive role models for young campers
  • Create leadership opportunities for young adults
  • Strengthen communication & social skills
  • Gain experience working with young campers
  • Gain experiences assisting with favorite camp activities
Discounted Tuition

CITs receive a large discount off the full camper 2-week tuition. Discounts do not apply to extended-day programs. The discount is determined based on the number of years as a CIT at Cactus Day Camp.

Camp Dates
  • Training: Sunday, May 4 (9 am – 4 pm)
  • 1st Session: June 2 – June 13
  • 2nd Session: June 16 – June 27
  • 3rd Session: June 30 – July 11 (closed July 4)
  • 4th Session: July 14 – June 25

CIT PROGRAM ELIGIBILITY:
  • Previous camper at Cactus Day Camp.
  • Entering 9th grade and at least 13 years old by camp session.
  • Required to be available for one 2-week session to be considered for the program.
  • Required to arrive by 8:45 am and depart at 3:45 pm.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Attend training at camp on Sunday, May 4, from 9 am to 4 pm.
  • Assist with the daily care of younger campers in the group or activities assigned.
  • Participate in all activities with their group.
  • Swim with their group each day.
  • Help with the daily organization of camp (including, but not limited to, taking lunch in from the heat, cleaning the lunch areas after lunch, walking children to the bathroom, distributing popsicles, etc.)
  • Participate in a supervised social time, with other CITs for 45 minutes three to four times a week.
  • Set a consistent arrival and departure time for yourself and take on responsibilities assigned to you that work within the timeframe.

CAMPER LEADERSHIP TRAINING

Mandatory training will take place for all Counselors-In-Training on Sunday, May 4th, from 9 am to 4 pm. The training will be located at camp and lunch will be provided.

ATTENDANCE POLICY

Consistent attendance and timely arrival are significant elements of the success of our camp program. If you are not present at Camp, our team is incomplete. Unless ill, continued absences or tardiness will be cause for dismissal from the program. No refunds will be given.
