Papago Park PROGRAM

Entering Kindergarten - Entering 2nd Grade

Papago Park is our division for campers entering grades kindergarten through 2nd grade, led by our enthusiastic directors, Bryan and Victoria—fondly known as the “Park Rangers”. Based in a large tented area that serves as their home base, Papago Park campers start and end each day together with lively pep rallies and share lunch as a park community.

Campers are grouped by age and gender, with each group led by at least two counselors and often a counselor-in-training. Throughout the week, they participate in a variety of age-appropriate activities, including daily swim sessions and the opportunity for an extra swim during “Campers’ Choice.” Each day at Cactus Day Camp offers something new, as campers rotate through over 30 activities during the two-week session. Whether it’s mastering archery, scaling rock walls, or creating delicious treats in cooking, campers are always engaged in exciting and memorable experiences.

Campers’ Choice is a special time when campers get to decide where they want to go, exploring unique activities, enjoying guest performers, and revisiting favorite options. This time encourages campers to try new things, sharpen their skills, and connect with campers and staff outside their own group—including siblings. Many activities are coed and multi-age, promoting shared fun and a sense of community.

Special Events: Each Friday, the week culminates in an exciting themed day like Carnival Day, Olympic Day, Color Royal, or Water Day, celebrating camp spirit with unforgettable enthusiasm!
